Tea Garden Ooty

Tea Garden | Ooty

The Ooty Tea Garden is a must-visit for families. Visitors can explore the expansive tea fields and capture lasting memories with photos and videos. Traditional tea harvester costumes are available for those who want to enhance their photos. Professional photographers are also on-site to help you achieve picture-perfect shots for a small fee. The Rs. 10 entry fee includes access to the garden and a complimentary cup of tea made from the estate’s fresh tea leaves.

Arrival at the Tea Garden Ooty

Our first morning in Ooty didn’t go exactly as planned, as the weather had other ideas. We began our day at the Botanical Garden, then headed to Doddabetta peak, and were accompanied by rain throughout. Eventually, the rain subsided, perhaps out of pity. While the sun remained mostly hidden behind clouds, the weather became pleasant.

Plenty of parking is available at the site. We parked our car and went directly to the ticket counter. The garden is a popular destination and typically draws large crowds. However, the unusual weather kept visitor numbers down, which was a bonus for us, as we enjoyed clear backdrops for some excellent portraits.

Firsthand Experience | Tea Garden Ooty

The Tea Garden welcomes visitors with the opportunity to dress up in tea-harvester costumes for an engaging photo session. This is a fun activity for everyone, from couples to families. The climb to the top, while uphill, is manageable and offers increasingly stunning views of the seemingly endless tea gardens. The breathtaking panorama is the perfect backdrop for enjoying a complimentary cup of the garden’s own tea. A shop at the top offers locally grown tea for purchase. We lingered for over an hour, soaking in the beauty and capturing some memorable portraits, before heading off to our next stop.

Where to stay in Ooty?

For stay one can consider:

However, I would recommend, if you have more than two nights of stay, recommended would be to book a stay in Coonoor. Coonoor is about 25 kms from Ooty, but the view it offers is absolutely raw in good way. Beautiful hills, close to nature, romantic skies, and what not. Coonoor leaves you with that feeling.
