Manali to Leh by Car 

Leh is undoubtedly an outstanding place in Jammu & Kashmir, and being here feels like you have been teleported to heaven. The pristine lakes, lofty mountains, and the unique culture and traditions of this place make it a must-visit destination for all thrill seekers and nature lovers. During our car journey from Manali to Leh, we enjoyed our breaks at the top attractions, including the Tibetan Buddhist celebrations, picturesque mountains, sanctuaries, and mountain passes. 

While many people opt for a bike journey, choosing a car was a better option for us to complete this 11 to 12-hour-long journey covering around 426 kilometres with comfort. As we were travelling in a group, going for a car trip was the best choice for us. 

Best Time for a Manali to Leh Journey

Knowing the best time for a road trip is important for a smooth execution. The best time for this trip is from May to July, and we took our trip in June. These are the months when the Leh highway opens from both sides, Srinagar and Manali. Another best time for the Manali to Leh road trip is from mid-September to October, when Leh’s landscapes look most surreal. These are the post-monsoon months, when the rain stops but leaves the perfect amount of moisture in the air.
